1. Acceptance of Terms
By installing or using mailrat ("the Application"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the Application.
The Application is privately operated and access is restricted to authorised Google accounts. It is not a public service.
2. Description of Service
mailrat is a self-hosted Gmail client that provides desktop, terminal, web, and command-line interfaces for reading, composing, and managing Gmail messages and Google Contacts. The Application stores data locally and communicates with Google's APIs on behalf of the authorised user.
3. Authorised Use
You may use the Application solely for lawful, personal email management purposes consistent with:
- Google's Terms of Service
- Google's API Services User Data Policy
- Gmail's Program Policies
You must not use the Application to send spam, phishing messages, or any content that violates applicable law or Google's policies.
4. Google Account and OAuth Authorisation
To use the Application you must grant it OAuth 2.0 access to your Google account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Google credentials and the host machine on which the Application is run. You may revoke the Application's access at any time via your Google Account permissions page .
The Application does not store or transmit your Google password. OAuth tokens are held locally and used only to authenticate requests to Google's APIs on your behalf.
5. Data Responsibility
The Application caches your Gmail messages and Google Contacts in a local SQLite database. You are responsible for the security and backup of this local data. The Application's developer accepts no liability for data loss arising from hardware failure, accidental deletion, or other events affecting your local storage.

6. No Warranty
The Application is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. The developer does not warrant that the Application will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that defects will be corrected.
Use of the Application in connection with Gmail and Google APIs is subject to Google's own availability and terms. The developer is not responsible for any interruptions to Google services.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Application's developer shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of emails, or unauthorised access to your Google account, arising from your use of or inability to use the Application.
8. Third-Party Services
The Application interacts with Google APIs. Your use of those services is governed by Google's own terms and policies. The developer is not responsible for Google's conduct, service availability, or changes to API behaviour or access policies.
9. Modifications to These Terms
These Terms of Service may be updated from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Application after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.
